i spread out their name for a reason.....lest somehow my best friend is associated with this, though he shouldn't be.....so no naming them, but it's obvious who that is.....

he phoned me when he got to work yesterday saying they were having a meeting then having the rest of the day off, cuz drumroll.....they're closing his plant down! The fucks who spent $100 million on brand new shiny headquarters for their 100th anniversary a few years ago; who had to shell out millions in a lawsuit they knew they'd loose in the first place; who, of course, kept sending jobs oversees; are now shutting down plants in the USA. And all the while the CEO and other officers got millions in bonuses, cuz OF COURSE!

They really did a mindfuck with these employees though, as they told them if they kept production up, continued working overtime (they don't have a choice, it's mandatory), they'd be able to keep the plant open. HAH! It'll be fully shut down by February 2017 and everyone gets a 60 day notice before their job is terminated. 60 day notices start THIS WEEK. He thinks he'll last awhile because he's trained in a variety of positions, including the tow motor. AFTER he's jobless he knows he won't get another job cuz who would hire a 60 year old man who had quintuple bypass surgery in '02? NO ONE.

The company had police in the parking lot. He thought that was a nice touch. Yep. Fuck those fuckers!!! They should be locked in a room with him and a computer for 2 hours. No matter how much they screamed to be let out, they'd have to last 2 hours. He already wanted me to look at his 'blue folder' (means the same as a blue computer screen of death) and I said I was not figuring out his severance; unemployment; insurance; etc let THEIR HR person do that!!

Here's an article. And where they say they can apply at other plants; well the ones from Berea went to Euclid and apparently that one or another will be closing next. FUCK THESE FUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!! And yes, I'm being a bit selfish; but overall I'm pissed for him cuz he does like his job and going to work every day. Don't fuck with my people!!!!


They also put their official HQ in Ireland for 'tax' reasons, gave the employees a GREAT (sarcasm) insurance plan this year where they pay around $200/month but have to pay $3K out of pocket before any coverage kicks in at all. The employees are screwed again and again. The bigwigs never are. They're claiming the jobs are going to another plant in the USA so they don't have to comply with the NAFTA requirements of education and training; but the jobs are going to Mexico and Turkey, with apparently 2 token jobs going to North Carolina.

ETA: They were told to come in today and work like nothing is different!!! Overtime, mandatory, is going to continue. A friend surmised they probably want to build up product for when they switch to other production plants, I believe they are right.

ah, since so many employees kept asking about education/training and mentioning the jobs going overseas, they decided to go ahead and fill out the paper work for employees to get that extra help since the jobs ARE going overseas!!!!

they gave out some 60 day notices the day of the meeting and the workers on the floor who got them have taken and/or are on medical leave!! one guy told 'em they'd hear from his lawyer when he found it it was only them who got laid off on the floor!! SMDH......

Not sure on this ... but i seem to remember that if the job loss is due to overseas competition or shipping the jobs off shore, employees are eligible for job retraining AND extended unemployment. I had several clients who lost jobs due to this. Like our friend, they were close to retirement age, didn't really want a new occupation ... but did the schooling w/ benefits until they could collect SS. The employees at several of the companies had to file law suits to make the business admit the jobs were going off shore. The companies don't want to do this bc it costs them more money. Fuckers.
