Your Virtual Moondog Experience!!

It was pouring down rain, mixed with snow with a strong wind so we ate inside the Q. Yes, you get to hear this too. Eddie got a burger at the Bspot and I went over to the healthy food place and got a vegan burrito (then later got some veggies and hummus). Edward wouldn't use MY camera to take a pix of me and my DJ friend, he had to HIS camera (same as mine but HIS camera doesn't focus properly, so ??). The DJ took a selfie of us and will post it so I can snag it later as WMJI hasn't posted Moondog pix yet.

Anyway, we were in the 3rd row to the side and I had to dodge this one couple's heads in front of me. They seemed to watch it more on the TV monitor to the left than the stage RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. So you'll see me move the camera at times to go around their heads. Then there's this woman, who I'm dubbing Concert Candy Crush Player. She sat there the whole show staring down at her phone in her lap playing candy crush. Uh, GTFO of your 2nd row seat if you're gonna be like that! And the grey arm/lavender shirt? Those are who I dodged. At least they were WATCHING THE SHOW!!! Candy Crush thru a concert? DAFUQ?! The Candy Crusher is in the shawl.

Donny Iris was first. He's 73!! Amazing! Damn energetic and sounds great!

Rodney Dangerfield is NOT dead!!! He plays guitar for Donny Iris!!

Little Help From My Friends

Spinners were next. Original member Henry Fambrough will be 78 next month! DAMN!! Here's Henry, then a couple other Spinners.

Rubberband Man, I stood up during this one cuz it's my favorite and was their last song. The guy to my right caught the rubberband. I did have my hand on it a second but the guy next to me was over 6'. Now EDWARD to my left claims HE could have caught it had I not been in his way. Uh huh. I got his elbow in my eye and he wasn't sorry about that cuz I was in his way. Rrrrriiiiigggghhhhhttttt.

Next up was CC-not-R without John Fogerty. Now, this non-JF version played a few years ago and whereas I need JF to sing for it to be 'authentic' the big bald guy had a good voice. They come out last night, this young blond guy goes up to the mic and starts to sing. No big bald guy in site. When he started to 'sing' the looks of DAFUQ?!?!! in our area were rather uniting. MUSICALLY they sounded great. 'Singing'?! Oh dear. I took this short vid then I escaped out to the concourse where many others had evacuated. I saw today on the WMJI site that the big bald guy is taking a break and this guy is filling in. Why couldn't they find a fill in who could sing? Eddie said he couldn't play guitar that good either and flubbed the couple solos he had.

Last was Michael McDonald. First time at the Moondog. He's 64. And during his set there was a cameraman on stage in the FRONT of the stage. They've had cameramen on stage in the back before, then one on the floor but never on the front of the stage. You'll see him in the vids.

I gotta give a shout out to the Q employees basically all over. They were consistently friendly and willing to help people in any way they could. When I got my burrito I went back to the burger place but couldn't find Edward, cuz of course not. So I found a table in an area to eat while still hot and could watch for him. One Q employee was going along the concourse saying to everyone "Welcome to the Q enjoy the show" or if people looked confused--like trying to figure out what gate to enter to get to their seats, etc they'd stop and ask if they needed assistance. When I finished eating and went to look for Edward, I heard other Q employees welcoming people. They seemed genuine too---not like robotic and/or begrudging, you know what I mean? There was a cleaning lady in the back bathroom (if you ever find yourself at the Q and on the floor for a show, go to the back of the floor and there's a bathroom back there that never EVER has a line and there's usually at least 2 dozen available stalls---while up on the concourse the line will snake for quite a ways) and she was changing the paper towels and checking TP levels and she was greeting people. "Are you enjoying show?" "Having a good time?"

And yes, I do have a habit of sending pithy letters but I ALSO send letters when things are good. I'm sending one to the Q tomorrow!

Thus concludes this year's virtual Moondog! When we walked outside Terminal Tower was lighted blue. I checked with Eddie to ensure the color wasn't associated with a Cleveland sports time--he said it wasn't. So I dunno why it was blue; but it was pretty.

Was moondog later this year? Thought you usually went in March.

Except for the new CCR lead, looks like it was a great show.

Yeah I guess it was sort of 'later'. It's usually the last weekend of March. Last weekend was Easter though. Last year's show was the day before Easter and they probably didn't want to repeat that? Smokey should have 'headlined' but he decided to play first so he could ensure he was home for Easter.

CCJoke should take a cue from Judas Priest and the years Rob Halford wasn't the singer they found a fill in via watching youtube vids of people singing their songs!! Of course the guy they found is from Akron. Still here, just now with more money.
