the who tragedy 36 years ago today....

36 years ago today 11 people were killed trying to get into a Who concert....i do indeed remember clearly seeing the reports on the news and hearing about it on the radio.....it also had an impact on a lot of venues with general admission.....i think too often tragedies that happen at concerts are forgotten....remember the 2003 rhode island club fire that took 100 people's lives? for music fans--doesn't matter the genre, if music has been a lifeline to you throughout your life, these tragedies resonate within you....today is the day to remember cincinnati....in this age of social media there's no way a band could on stage unaware that 11 people were killed prior to the show, but that happened that night and they weren't told until after.....

I'm reminded of the Happy Land fire in the Bronx that killed 87 people 25 years ago.

The "Happy Land" was a social club that was torched by a jealous ex-boyfriend. It had no fire exits, so people were basically sitting ducks. Horrible; I wasn't aware it had happened 25 years ago this year. Time flies.

That's really sad. I did not know about that. 11 years ago I was only 16 but I am surprised I don't know of that incident. At the time though I didn't really watch or read the news like I do now.

well the who deaths happened 36 years ago, so well before you were born!!! the great white rhode island fire in 2003 seems to have been forgotten....100 burned to death due to club owners who didn't care about safety and did cheap insulation and a tour manager who didn't check to ensure it was safe to set off fireworks (well not FIREWORKS fireworks, but some small pyro things)
